This is the type of piano on which I practice. |

In some ways, piano was my first musical love. My parents enrolled me in piano lessons when I was five, and I took lessons for 11 more years, quitting at age 16. I then took another year of organ, and let it drop. However, as with the trumpet, I didn’t quit completely, continuing to play on my own for the fun of it. My piano experience has benefited me greatly in my theory classes...I strongly recommend starting kids out on piano before any other musical training!
Technical details: I practice on a 1927 Hamilton upright piano that my grandmother bought new. It is a fantastic instrument...never loses its tune and has great action. It truly spoils me for other pianos.
Most of the works I play are religious hymns with traditional SATB harmonies. I enjoy the challenges of line-against-line sightreading, though I’m far from expert! |
