Advanced Fashion--Introductory Lesson

Since you are now ready to move on to the management side of the fashion business let’s take a look at your skills in understanding your consumer and your ability to meet their needs.

1. Select an envelope and read about your next customer.
2. Based on the information given to you and using the materials provided, construct an outfit for that consumer. Although it is made of paper, it should be fitted on the actual body of one of your group members. Please be creative. You must make a pattern on paper first before cutting any paper.
3. This outfit must also include at least 3 types of accessories.
4. Once finished, you will model your creation for the class and explain based on the information you started with, why this outfit will not only meet but, exceed your consumer’s expectations. In addition, you must explain why you chose this particular style for that consumer.

Materials Needed:

  • Bulletin Board Paper (Big Rolls)
  • Pins/Safety Pins
  • Markers
  • Tape
  • Glitter
  • Beads
  • Scissors
  • Any other arts and craft supplies you might have
  • Several different types of customer profiles/descriptions

This is something I started with last year and it gave the kids a chance to review and they had a blast doing it. It was a fun way to get
back in the "Fashion" groove.
