The purpose of the Sports, Entertainment and Recreation Marketing Career Power Point Presentation project is to provide an organized procedure by which a Marketing student can thoroughly investigate a career in SER marketing, which is of interest to him or her. The end product of this project is a report that highlights important information about the chosen career of study.

The project must be on a specific career such as a professional athlete, sports writer, coach, travel agent or other related SER career.

The emphasis of the project is on content—what the student has truly learned from the project. Information about a chosen career may be obtained from encyclopedias, personal interviews, computer programs, the Internet, The Occupational Handbook and other viable sources.

Specifications:

The project must follow these specifications. All slides should be in the following order:

  • Title Slide-include the title of your project, your name and a picture of someone actually performing the career.
  • Development of the Career-explain the history of the career, when and where the career started. The outlook for the future of the career.
  • Nature of the Work-Explain the purpose of the career. Identify at least five duties of the career. Describe the working conditions of the career.
  • Qualifications-Identify personal qualifications such as physical ability, personal qualities, etc. Include education and training required for this position.
  • Opportunities in the Career-Explain the career ladder, income and fringe benefits and personal satisfaction
  • Interview-Contact someone in this field. Ask at least 5 questions about the career.
  • Include 2 to 3 pictures of a person on the job.
  • Work Cited slide-include a list of reference material used to research your career. You MUST use at least three forms of reference.
  • Limit your Power Point project to 10-15 slides.
  • Turn in the Power Point disk and a hard copy of your Power Point-notes page
  • Dress professionally as you present your project and limit your presentation to 3-5 minutes.
  • The Power Point project and hard copy will count as two test grades. Your actual oral presentation along with professional dress will count as one test grade.
