Lesson Overview: Students
will work in teams to discover what is fashion as it relates to apparel,
home fashion and accessories. Students will investigate
the components of fashion. Students will present their information
to the class in an interactive presentation.
Objectives and Goals:
1. The students will explain the concept
of fashion in terms of apparel, home fashion, and accessories.
2. The students will explain the components
of fashion (style, color, and functionality)
3. The students will collect and evaluate
information via the internet.
4. The students will make persuasive presentations.
Approximate Time Required to Complete
the Lesson: 2 class periods
Tools Needed: Computers,
Internet access , television, camcorder, tripod
Tasks/Activities:
Have students define and discuss Fashion Terms. Explain to the
students that they have will be featured on the Rosey O’Donnell show
titled “Fall Fashion Explosion” to explain what is “in fashion
for the Fall season”. The students must explain how the components
of fashion (style, color and functionality) relate to apparel,
home fashion and accessories. Each team member is a writer representing
a popular fashion magazine, such as Vogue, Glamour, GQ. Each team
will be assigned one category which includes apparel, home fashion,
and accessories. Each team will be required to research the category
assigned via the internet. Students will need to show and explain
to the audience examples of Fall Fashion . Students may
use the television as a projector for their examples, model the apparel/accessories,
or bring in examples.

Additional Information: This
is fun activity that the students enjoy. It is very important
