James P. Bliss, Ph.D.

Thanks for visiting my site!  I am a human factors psychologist who works as an associate professor in the psychology department at Old Dominion University.  I’m also a musician who sings and plays trumpet, banjo, and piano.

My wife, Marie, is a professional musician who has her own studio:  http://www.yellowbirdstudios.com/.  I have one son, Marshall.  You can find out more about him by clicking “About Marshall” on the left menu bar.

I’ve been working as a professor at different universities since 1993, and have published articles concerning human reactions to alarms and the use of virtual environments to train complex tasks.  More information about my research and teaching is available by clicking on the relevant links to the left.

In my personal life, I’ve done quite a bit of work concerning genealogy, tracing back my parents’ ancestral lines.  There are links about that on the left, if you’re interested.
