Current Migration Schedule for LIONS2

Here is a latest schedule for migration of existing LIONS customers over to LIONS2 as of May 4, 2005.

The following is the LIONS2 migration schedule as of May 4, 2005. As always, this schedule is subject to change. Changes and specific dates will be announced here and on the OCCS Alerts page. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send an email to 'unixhelp@odu.edu'.

Week of December 13 Migration of account to LIONS2 begins
Week of December 20 Rebuild of existing UNIX workstations to LIONS2 begins
March 7, 2005 (Spring Break) (DONE) Migration of Norfolk to LIONS2 Environment. This will result in the migration of the following LSF queues from the original LIONS over to LIONS2: 'SAS', 'SAS-long', 'SPSS', 'long', 'normal', and 'short'.
March 9, 2005 (Spring Break) (DONE) Migration of Helios to LIONS2 Environment. This will result in the migration of the following LSF queues from the original LIONS over to LIONS2: 'hpc-long', 'hpc-mpi', 'hpc-mpi-short', 'hpc-normal', 'hpc-short', as well as the removal of the '/scratch' partition from the existing 'sol-login' boxes..
April 4, 2005
  • (DONE) Shutdown of Skye.lions.odu.edu (one half of the old sol-login boxes)
  • (DONE) Move 'www.lions.odu.edu' name over to the new LIONS2 server.
April 6, 2005 (DONE) Movement of '@lions.odu.edu' email domain to the new LIONS2 server.
April 20, 2005 (DONE) Stop auto-forwarding of selected heavy old LIONS email users.
April 27, 2005
  • (DONE) Shutdown of Tonga.lions.odu.edu (the last sol-login box).
  • (DONE) Move 'ftp.lions.odu.edu' and 'sol-login.lions.odu.edu' names over to the new LIONS2 servers.
May 4, 2005
  • (DONE) Video Streaming: Migration of 'svs0.svnet.odu.edu' and 'real.lions.odu.edu' over to the new LIONS2 servers.
  • (DONE) Move archive video mass storage unit over to LIONS2.
